"Passagiata - Strolling under the Stars." Walking Tip by Sunpoppi

Walking, Rome: 35 reviews and 65 photos

Passagiata is an evening tradition in the Eternal City. Romans go to the cafe after work where they sit and relax, have espresso, calda cioccolata, or an aperitif. Then they go home, get the family and go for a walk....or as they say in Rome, a passagiata. You'll see whole families waving to friends, chatting with neighbors and typically eating gelato as they walk around. I always get so jealous of these beautiful thin Roman women who inhale an enormous gelato as a prelude to their dinner. Because that is what happens next….the family goes to dinner.

By the way, there is nothing that comes close to the Roman style cioccolata con crema. You can order it either hot/caldo or cold/ freddo. I prefer it hot, but it depends on the weather.
