Refugio Bartola: "Seclusion near the Indio-Maiz Reserve" Nicaragua Hotel Tip by maryellen50

Nicaragua Hotels: 101 reviews and 172 photos

Eight simple wooden guest rooms with cathedral ceilings flank the dining area?not much room for visitors, but the Refugio?s remote location keeps tourists at a minimum. The open-air thatched roof dining hut accomodates a meal of river shrimp, pumpkin soup, salad, rice pudding, and fresh juice. Electricity is kept to a minimum between 6om-10pm.

Unique Qualities: The Refugio stands as the last tourist outpost before the secluded Indio-Maiz Reserve.

Price Comparison: about average
Directions: Refuge is accessible only by boat so plan in advance to visit.
Price: US$20-40
