"Plas Mawr" Wales Things to Do Tip by fishandchips

Wales Things to Do: 372 reviews and 875 photos

Plas Mawr is an Elizabethan house that can be found in the town of Conwy in North Wales. It was built between 1576 and 1585 by Welsh merchant, Robert Wynn..

Plas Mawr's has many original furnishings apparently based on an inventory of the contents in 1665. The rooms appear to small by todays standards, the staircases especially so.

We took an audio-tour of the house while wandering through the very interesting rooms. This includes a very lavish main hall room and large kitchen. Volunteers stood in strategic spots around the house and they kept us moving in the right direction.

Plas Mawr is open 9.30 to 6.00 most days in Summer (earlier close in Winter) and entrance is 4.50 for adults.
