There are lots of houses and villages which date from the Middle Ages in Suffolk but Lavenham is probably the most complete village of houses from that period. There is a parking area almost opposite the church which is well signposted but remember it is a popular place with visiters so try to go out of season or parking will be a problem.
The centre is full of timber framed houses and is wonderful to wander through. There is a small tourist information centre - where they are very helpful with information about the area. The Guildhall of Corpus Christi is a lovely early 16th timber framed building with exhibitions of local history, the cloth industry and farming. It is owned by the National Trust. The Lavenham Little Hall is a timber framed Wool Merchants house with 14th century origins, the hall house was added in the 15th century and it was restored in 1920 after it had been modernised in the 16th century and extended in the 17th centruy.
