Köfte, the tasty meatballs made of minced lamb, onions, & green peppers, is one of the most well-liked dishes in all of Turkey. There are countless restaurants and cafes in Istanbul that serve the dish. One popular place among locals for Köfte is Meshur Sultanahmet Köftecisi, which means "The Famous Sultanahmet Meatballer". :) It is a very simple establishment, not very big, and sort of reminded me of a small town U.S.A. diner. But when I entered this place, and saw how many people were packed in here, i could obviously tell that this was a great place to eat! This was so true, as the meatballs here were delicious! Plenty of bread comes with the meal, and the salad and beans went great with the Köfte. Wash it all down with a hot glass of Turkish tea, and you've got yourself one excellent meal here! When visiting Istanbul, you will more than likely head over to the Sultanahmet area at some point. This is a wonderful place to stop in a grab a bite to eat while in the vicinity!
