"Estonian bogs" Estonia Off The Beaten Path Tip by Miisu

Estonia Off The Beaten Path: 51 reviews and 55 photos

There are many bogs in Estonia you can visit. The most accessible of them have good wooden boardwalks. Good examples are for example Kakerdaja bog and Viru bog in North-Estonia and Endla bog in East-Estonia. You can use prepared trails to go through the bog without getting your feet wet, but still see the unspoiled nature. There are also two observation towers in Endla and one in Viru to view the beautiful landscape of fen complex and bog pools.

Getting in these areas might be a little difficult, so it is always good to have a local friend guiding you. If you don’t have one, get a good road map and try to find the parking places and nature trails prepared by the State Forest Maintenance Centre (look for “RMK”signs)
