"Tartu Student days" Estonia Things to Do Tip by Miisu

Estonia Things to Do: 147 reviews and 168 photos

?Tartu Spring Days? and ?Tartu Autumn Days? are traditional annual entertaining festivals organised by students for students. The outcome is crazy and fun for both, active participants and bystanders.

I personally suggest to see the spring days taking place in the last week of April. One of the main events of week-long spring days is the rubber boat race. The race, originally planned as a contest for teams representing the different universities has by now become a show of nearly 100 boats with teams putting more effort on their crazy look and new ideas than their speed. Other traditions are the competition of self-made moving devices ?Bamboo?, the celebration of the Walpurgis Night (Volber), extreme/student sports contests, numerous concerts and parties.

Directions: Just head to Tartu (see my previous tip). The events are taking place in the whole town. Most important places are river Emajõgi, Town hall square, Pirogov hill and some clubs. You'll find them all in the town centre.
