"Ronde van Vlaanderen 1st Sunday of April" Belgium Things to Do Tip by Museeuw

Normally every first Sunday of April (except in 2007 it's the second Sunday) there is the 'Ronde van Vlaanderen' (Tour of Flanders), one of the biggest cycling races in the world. Around 11 o'clock in the morning there's the start on the marketplace in Bruges, with the presentation of all the participating cyclists. The marketplace is always packed with thousands of people.

If you can't go to the start, make sure that you're somewhere in Oost-Vlaanderen that day, in the area around Oudenaarde, Geraardsbergen, Brakel,... . Either you can find a place on one of the hills where the cyclists pass (Muur in Geraardsbergen, Oude Kwaremont, Berendries,...), or you can look for a bar where a lot of people watch the race together on TV. They also show the race in the museum of the Ronde van Vlaanderen in Oudenaarde.
