The Old Royal Palace is situated in the third courtyard of Prague Castle. It grew to its present appearance from its founding in the late 9th century. It contains the magnificent Vladislav Hall which could by entered by Knights from the Riders? Staircase to take part in jousting competitions. The hall has also been used for coronations, banquets and markets. Since 1918 it has been used to swear in the president. At the far end of the hall there is a doorway to a crowded viewing platform that gives fantastic views of Prague.
