  Baltic amber

About 80 % of the world's known amber resources are located in the Baltic region. Amber came into being some million years ago from the sap of various pine trees which became fossilized.

One of the most popular souvenirs from the Baltic region are therefore all sorts of amber jewely or amber decorations. You find them in souvenir shops or at market stalls. The price can often be negotiated.

If you are lucky enough you might even find little pieces of amber at the shore of the Baltic Sea. So keep your eyes open when wandering along the beach ....
