"Cruise Ship" Aswan Hotel Tip by Homanded

Chances are, unless you've flown to Aswan a day ahead of your intended embarkation, you will be staying in your cruise ship.
This is ideal!!!

Although "quaint" we found staying on the Cruise ship, with all the modern ammenities and yet, close enough from pier to main streets in Aswan the most convinient and tried / true, practical way to do Aswan proper.
As any other city in Egypt, Asway was incredibly hectic during the night time hours and traffic was horrendous during the day.

Unique Qualities: Aswan's streets are full of quaint shops and, next to Kahn Kalil, our favorite place to shop. The markets include clothing, jewelry and it's famous spices and teas.
By all means, make an appointment and sit in one of the many spice shops.

Chances are, if you're on an escorted tour, your tour director will have the "in" with one of the vendors or shop keepers - once again, all in Egypt is not what it seems and, when your tour guide tells you he knows of a good place, he's actually steering you towards a place that pays him/her commission. This may not always be cheapest as we caught our guide silently communicating with the owner! It was great fun just the same, we got to sample some delicious tea and I was happy about buying some exotic spices
