"An Evening of Music in the Chapel" Sainte-Chapelle Tip by hquittner
Sainte-Chapelle, Paris: 145 reviews and 355 photos
As part of an Elderhostel group we attended a performance of Mozart's Flute Quartets given in the Upper Chapel. The performance was excellent but I felt the flute sound was hollow in this room, almost echoing (like a Peruvian flute), and not as comforting as I have heard them before. Of course it was at night and the windows were a gray blank, but the chandeliers glistened and the statues stood out. Such performances would not have occurred when it was a church (this is now an art museum and there are fees). There were many other attendees but I do not know if they were all tourists like us. As you can see the players sat in front of the baldachin. I included a daytime shot of the area for reference.
