We had a fabolous stay at this hotel, located about four hours north of Sao Paulo and about 2 hours South of Rio de Janeiro. This hotel is a family orientated hotel with a great atmosphere, very relaxed and laid back with friendly service and lots of activities.
Firstly, as regards location, the hotel itself is loacted in the middle of nowhere, almost. Its on the road South out of main town Ubatuba. However, don~t let this put you off for the hotel itself has enough facilities to keep you going. Access to the beach is across a main road. The hotel lay out chairs and shade every day. The water and beach is clean though bits of bark and wood tends to drift in from a nearby island. You can visit the island on foot, the water was shallow enough to simply walk across to a small wee private beach.
the surrounding area is fabulous, with the characteristic Brazilian mix of mountains and dense forest on all sides.
The hotel has everything you may require. Meals are served three times a day, and are always a buffet style affair with lots to choose from and plenty of food. The quality is good and you can help yourself to as many servings as you like.
The rooms are basic and functional family rooms, with bunk beds and double beds and a facility to enter an adjoining room through an internal door for bigger families.
The location of this hotel allows for a quick car trip, (or hotel bus) to a pier from where you can board a boat and head out to one of the islands. A great trip not to be missed!
Unique Qualities: The facilities are excellent, including a lovely pool with various slides (don´t go on the red slide apparently, is the advice!) and another smaller pool for toddlers. There is a seperate pool for volley ball and another pool for children with a great Skibunda slide that should keep everyone entertained for hours! The hotel own the forest directly behind and there is a trail through it, beginning with a walk along an Indiana Jones esque footbridge.
There are lots of other activities, three snooker tables overlooking the main pool, arcade games, table for cards, table football, table tennis, a sand pitch for football, a bouncy castle, a little farm with animals, including an osterich, a pony, a poor sheep with a full set out wool, and some goats, a location for a b-que, a hall for parties and a type of absailing.
Each day the hotel puts on a range of activities, mask painting, games for the kids, parties at night, samba school, etc. and the whole thing is very enjoyable.
