"Thunder in the Hole!" Top 5 Page for this destination Acadia National Park Things to Do Tip by goodfish
Acadia National Park Things to Do: 116 reviews and 211 photos
Water rushing into this natural slot (Thunder Hole) makes a loud BOOM and creates enormous sprays when wind, tide and ocean activity are right. Your best shot at catching it in action is at mid-tide (incoming) on a day when the ocean is churning up big waves. This is also a big hot spot with tourists so parking can be a zoo. If possible, try to do this one early in the morning or late in the day.
Address: Park Loop Road, Acadia N. P.
Directions: Along the one-way section of Park Loop Road, not far from Sand Beach.
