by MikeAtSea

Several small bases were built on the Antarctic Peninsula to report on enemy activities and to provide weather reports. Port Lockroy was established in February 1944 and was manned by an eight men wintering team. One of the team members was James Marr who sailed as a young Boy Scout sailed under the leadership of Sir Ernest Shackleton.
