The archeological excavations of this place will probably never end, because every inch of this place has historical significance. If you look carefully you can spot former "beaten paths" that became fanced excavation site. Everywhere you set your foot in Tzipori be sure that you're standing on a yet undiscovered mosaic, or a buried pillar, or even a whole ancient house.
It is known by its Greek name, it has been invaded without a battle by Roman army, it was home to Christians and Jews, and a place where crusaders built a fortress, and it has stunning mosaic works all over the site.
It's is located just a few minutes drive from Nazareth and many suggest that this is the place where Joseph worked as a carpenter accompanied by his son, Jesus. Some even argue that Joseph was native of Zippori.
A visit to Zippori may take half a day if you decide to explore it all. The mosaic rooms all over the site will definitely make you stop and "read" a story described in thousands of colorful, tiny stones. When you're done with the lower part of the park go all the way up the hill and enjoy the view which will make you to understand where this place got its name from. Taken from Hebrew Zipor - "Bird" you'll be able to see the surroundings like a bird that sees it from the sky.
Directions: To reach Zippori National Park, drive into Moshav Zippori and follow the signposted road to the antiquities. Moshav Zippori is about 4 kilometers east of Hamovil junction (on Route 79 between Hamovil junction and Nazareth).
