"Expensive but classy" Queen Victoria Building Tip by Joseph69

Queen Victoria Building, Sydney: 25 reviews and 39 photos

The Queen Victoria Building (QVB) has some beautiful stores although on the pricier side. There are numerous types of stores catering for men's fashion, women's fashion, arts, souveniers, jewellery, etc.

It's all under one roof but the building is so grand and old, it has to be a must thing to do, even if you will just walk around and browse at the stores.

The elaborate "Romanesque" building was designed by George McRae and completed in 1898. Although Sydney was in the grip of a major recession, the Government decided to employ out of work personnel to build it, such as craftsmen, plasterers, stonemasons, stained window artists and tilers.

What to buy: Particular good for fashion and arts.

Address: George Street near Town Hall Station
Directions: Across the road from the Hilton Hotel on George Street. Closest railway station is Town Hall.
