"Currency Musuem" Ottawa Things to Do Tip by oceania26

Ottawa Things to Do: 696 reviews and 1,669 photos

I really enjoy visiting this museum which is located in the Bank of Canada building. The Bank of Canada is Canada's central bank that is responsible for the Canadian dollar, but doesn't offer retail or banking services. Instead, it is incharge of producing and distributing dollar bills to commercial banks among many other things such as setting interest rates...but enough about that boring stuff.

There's a Currency Museum which offers great information on world currency and the history of currency right from the earliest times. It also touches on inflation and security. There's a great display of ancient and currencies from all over the world, including a program that allows you to see current currency from every country.

There's a also a great short video that touches upon the role of Bank of Canada and how it effects the Canadian economy.

Check websites for times and dates.
