Here you will see the Cathedral, Presidential Palace, the Archbishop Palace and the Municipal Palace. This place is also known as the Plaza Grande.
At the center of the plaza you will see the Monument to the heros of Indepenance. It symbolizes the triumph over the Spanish.
This plaza was built in the 16th century. The monument was put up in the 20 century. This is Quitos main square.
Here you will also find a plaque in rememberance for President Garcia Moreno how is said to have been macheted to death in 1875.
