  The View towards Austria
by Ekaterinburg

Bratislava Castle is not the most exciting place to visit but it is worth climbing up there for the awe-inspiring views from the terrace. These views take in three countries : Slovakia staright ahead; Hungary to the left : Austria to the right. The view towards Austria is probably the least dramatic of the three- just green and blue stretching towards a distant mountain, and certainly no evidence of capitalism to contaminate a good communist. The dark forest immediately to the right was part of the Iron Curtain and apparently the barbed wire and posts came right up practically to the edge of Petrazalka. It feels good to look at it today and know it's just a forest where people can move freely and without fear.
