"Go Twice" Empire State Building Tip by mattalthor

Empire State Building, New York City: 374 reviews and 610 photos

To fully appreciate, go in the day and at night time. Some warnings -

during the day, the queues can take hours. Literally. Am not exaggerating. Many people, my mate amongst them, took to sitting or laying on the floor. I think we took 4hours to get to the top.

best to pick a clear day to maximise the view

go at night also, the city is amazing all lit up. the queuese are much less at night, we were up in less than half an hour.

security is tight. we had to leave stuff downstairs - id travel without taking anything, it will only delay your trip to the top

if going in daytime, pay extra for the express ticket. we wish we had done this, wouldve halved our time waiting i reckon

wrap up warm at the top. even if hot, it is windy.

walk up the last few flights of stairs, dont take the second lift. its great exercise!

Finally, I would recommend this as one of the musts of New York, indeed the World. Unmissable.
