Castle Park is a great place for a walk amongst the trees, somewhere to stop for a picnic, for the kids to play - and to watch the squirrels !

The town council acquired Colchester castle and its grounds in 1920. There are some formal gardens around the castle, and parkland stretching away down the hill at the back. There is a small lake at the bottom, and beyond there is a cricket ground, where county cricket is played during Colchester Cricket Week.
