Yemen Things to Do: 143 reviews and 301 photos

Every Yemen-trip should include the Hadramaut with its spectacular architecture and landscapes. The Hadramaut, though in the midst of a sand desert, is no poor region for Yemeni standards. Traditionally, many Hadramis emigrated to India and Indonesia for trade or work; many grew rich, returned and built beautiful houses in their hometowns. You will surely notice the whitewashed palaces in many Hadrami villages, next to cream-coloured mud-brick-architecture.

The highlights of the Hadramaut are
- Sayun (with the Sultans palace)
- Shibam (with its mud-brick skyscrapers)
- Tarim (mosque; Al-Kaf city palaces)
- Wadi Idin (palm groves and oasis)
- Hajjarain
- Sif
- Wadi Duan
- Jol

It is easily possible to see these Hadramaut destinations in 4-5 days.
