"Billerica -- Birthplace of Tom Glavine..." Day Trips Tip by Ewingjr98

Day Trips, Boston: 18 reviews and 29 photos

Billerica (pronounced like "Bill-Ricka" not "Bill-air-icka" as many newcomers attempt to say) is along Rt 3 between the 95 and 495 loops. Not much here, but it is the hometown of Major Leaguer and future Hall of Famer Tom Glavine of the New York Mets. The downtown has a nice little green, and Nutting Lake is also a popular area for locals. Otherwise you just have the 2 local branches of the tasty and inexpensive 99 Restaurant and the Ricka Girls.

At the southern edge of Billerica, near Burlington, there is a very good Irish Pub called the Emerald Rose. This was one of our favorite spots on Friday afternoons when we could sneak out of work early!
