This place , tucked in between rocky hills and mountains , deserted since millenia , no plants in sight , just stone , rock , sand and the cruel sun is the burial place of just about every pharao of the 18th , 19th and 20th dynasty (big exception : Amenhotep IV. , a.k.a. Echnaton and Queen Hatshepsut), that is more or less 1450 - 1100 BC... The working place for myriads of grave robbers , tumb excavators , adventurers , scientists and madmen , among which , the most famous and successfull , Howard Carter , discoverer ( among many other tombs of famous pharaos ) of Tut Enkh Amuns untouched grave and the most significant art works of Ancient Egypt.
The Valley of the Kings is THE MUST SEE THING when in Luxor ( besides , of course , Karnak )....
Pure heaven for laymen egyptologists ( like me ) from all over the world.
Directions: Take a tour , they'll bring you to the other ( western ) side of the Nile ( Hapi in ancient egyptian) .
Don't forget sunglasses, hat and water .... You won't be sorry to have taken these items along...
