"Ferry from mainland/Bodø to Moskenes" Moskenesøya Transportation Tip by ruffen
Moskenesøya Transportation: 3 reviews and 2 photos
There are now a frequent ferry that goes between Moskenes and Bodø.
It goes daily (eccept some holiedays) and its tour is based on that local people in Lofoten can go to Bodø for earands/doctor/etc during the day and go back to their homes in Lofoten within the same day! This was impossible to do before this ferry came!
The ferry uses ~3,5 hours over the fjord. Long? Naaah, not compared to minimum 4 hours one way once a week and then 10+ hours back to Bodø.
When you look at the web page (see link belove) there are headings for dates (summer - winter) and also for prices (= Priser) and they are of course in NOK :)
NB - you can also take one of the ferries via Værøy (and maybe Røst too to get to Moskenes - this will of course thak much longer time, but you will then get to see how it is on Værøy (and Røst) too incl seeing the very tip of Lofoten.
During summertime there are more than one ferry on scheldule :)
To take the ferry from Bodø (follow E6, at Fauske you turn to R80 for 64 km to Bodø). Before you arrive down town Bodø you will see signs for the ferry (same part of harbour as Hurtigruten and Railway station)
In Lofoten the quai is at Moskenes - very hard to miss the quai there :)
Remember - some days there are many many tourists in cars and busse in addition to delivery trucks (also those 18 metres) and locals going home so you should be prepared for "missing" one ferry.
For those with motorbikes - normally they get you onboard (if you are not 10++ in a team) even if the ferry is full of cars.
Bikes - you will definately get onboard :)
Pst - by law you have to write your name (gender, age, from where) on a list BEFORE entering the ferry.
