"Religious Experience" Holiday Season Tip by iam1wthee

Holiday Season, New York City: 27 reviews and 35 photos

There are a lot of tours to see different religious services. However, you can go to the churches on your own.

Bethel Gospel Assembly
120th Street between 5th ave and Madison Ave.
Does not have a dress code for their regular members eventhough many still will dress up. Women can wear pants. Main choir has beautiful voices and last years Christmas pageant put on by kids was the best I have seen; even better than pageants on TV. Great pastor.

Refuge Temple
124th Street Adam Clayton Powell Blvd.
Strict dress code for members. Women can't wear pants or makeup. There are tour groups who visit the church who they don't enforce rules on. Main choir and childrens choir is one of the best in the city.

Time Square Church
51st Street & Bwy
Casual dress. Good choirs and preaching.

Canaan Baptist Chrurch
Rev. Wyatt T. Walker marched with Dr. Martin Luther King-gives moving sermons. Conservative dress for this church

First Corinthian Baptist Church
1912 7th Ave 116th Street
Rev. Micheal & Lakeisha Waldrond are very good preachers
If you want to have the full experience with little interruptions it is best to sit on the main floor.

Greater Allen Cathedral in Queens
110-31 Merrick Blvd

These are real churches that counsel, feed homeless, provide job skills, help pay people rent and bills, some provide respites for battered women and abused children. Your tithe and offering is being used here
