If you decide to take on Kili, there are about 6 routes you can traverse that would get you to the summit. Ascending this very big mountain demands hard exercise, and training months in advance is highly advisable. Those attempting to reach Uhuru Peak should have had previous high altitude experience.

The least strenuous route to take is the Marangu 'Tourist' or 'Coca Cola' route. This is the easiest and most popular, though least scenic route.

We decided to take on the Machame Route, or affectionaly known as the "Whiskey Route.' This route offered beautiful scenery, wide panoramas, and a gradual initial ascent. It also had its share of steep climbs that caught us off guard! The route can take 5-6 days......and an extra day can be recommended by your trekking guide if you need more time to acclimatise.
