  • Warkworth Kauri Trees - New Zealand

A highlight of day trip on highway 1 . North was a stop in Warkworth to see the giant kauri trees. There are a couple that can't be missed . They are located near the Warkworth Museum and are huge . The larger one is about 800 years old and measures 25 ft around....and this is not considered all that old by kauri standards!

I guess at one time NZ had huge forests of these trees but sadly they were rapidly depleted by European settlers!

Address: Warkworth , 59 km North of Auckland

Review Helpfulness: 3.5 out of 5 stars
