The first missionaries to Hawaii replaced their initial grass structure churches with this New England-style congregational church which was finished in 1842. The church is constructed from 14,000 coral slabs each weighing 1,000 pounds. They were quarried from the reef just off shore. The clock was donated by King Kamehameha III and is still working today. The church is conveniently located near to other historical sites such as Iolani Palace, the Iolani Barracks, the King Kamehameha statue, and Ali'iolani Hale. Visiting all of these sites would likely take a half-day.

Services are held on Sundays and Wednesdays. The church is open to visitors Monday through Friday from 8:30am-4pm. Guided tours are available by calling ahead.

If you're visiting during Thanksgiving weekend, they hold a wonderful Hawaiian craft market on the church grounds.
