The biggest and best-known of Madrid big three museums, the Prado is home to one of the world's best collections of art. You could easily spend a week exploring here and not see it all.

We visited on a Sunday morning when entry was free and we spent a very enjoyable couple of hours, away from the stifling heat and humidity, seeing some of the highlight's of the Prado's collection.

Las Meninas by Velázquez is probably the best known work on display though my favourites were the Caravaggio works.
