Old Mint - Alte Münze, Speyer: 4 reviews and 9 photos

Built in 1748, this is a wonderful Palatinate style Baroque building which you will walk past many times on the way to and from the cathedral. Before the building was expanded and changed to look like this (and renamed "Neues Kaufhaus am Markt"), it was housing the town mint, which made coins for a great deal of the Rhine trade, but was then ruined in the Great Alliance War like so much of Speyer.

Address: Maximilianstrasse
Directions: In the little square full of cafes which is in the middle of the street.

Review Helpfulness: 3.5 out of 5 stars
