People from all over the world come to South Africa in search of African artifacts, curios and mementos.

Once upon a time fur and fur goods was popular and there was a good trade going on. But it is now taboo in most parts of South Africa. Frowned upon.

What to buy: The most common types are African masks, textiles, ostrich eggs, metal and wire crafts (eg windmills and car replicas made from recycled tin cans), wooden animals and paintings it seems.

What to pay: Be prepared to barter when buying crafts from informal stalls or on the side of the road. They will try their luck and quote a high price at first. Haggle and get them down to at least 60% of the initial price. Usually works for me :)

Directions: All over the country
