Enjoy a bookshop with a difference.

The EL ATENEO branch at Av Santa Fe is a converted theatre. The hall is huge and under a gorgeously restored dome-shaped ceiling. You may bring a book to the café to browse. The café is where the stage used to be. You can enjoy your book and coffee there with spot-lights shining on your pallid face.

Or if the cafe is full (which is not unusual), try and find a box seat (yes, like where Statler and Waldorf, the 2 snickering old men from The Muppet Show, always sit) and browse away.

It has a fantastic atmosphere.

Address: Av. Santa Fe 1860 between Av. Callao and Riobamba
