Premier Travel Inns have 3 locations here in Plymouth: 2 of which are pretty much next door to each other on the other side of the harbour from The Barbican, the third slightly out of town at Marsh Mills. On my last visit I stayed at the Sutton Harbour hotel by The Barbican though I would assume that the facilites offered by each hotel are standard and so the choice was based on location, price and availablity.

For a modern, no frills, mid-market hotel this was fine, decent sized, comfortable, clean rooms, but, as seems to be so often the case here in the UK with hotels, the advertised internet connection proved to be a costly addition at 5 GBP for 60 mins (not total time but from first log on) or 12 GBP for 24 hours. This is perhaps where my US hotel experiences have spoilt me somewhat where free access seems to be the norm (although sometimes patchy regarding whether it works or not!!).

Unique Qualities: For a city centre hotel the location is excellent, being about 5 minutes walk from The Barbican, though I think they do charge extra for car parking.

One thing to note though is that whilst the hotel advertises itself as being on the harbour, it is the scruffy industrial side, rather than the more picturesque marina side on The Barbican proper.

Address: 28 Sutton Road, Plymouth
Price Comparison: about average
Directions: Follow road signs for Barbican but turn right along Sutton road.
