If there's one thing you'll notice in Monterey, it's the insane amount of nature that abounds here. One part of that are the birds. Not a spot to hang out if you watch a lot of Hitchcock. But if you're a bird-watching fan, head on down to the waterfront. All around you'll find different types of seagulls, pelicans, egrets and birds I have never seen before (along with the usual pigeons those of us from the east coast are very familiar with). There are neat little black birds (please let me know what they are if you know) who actually swim under water. Kind of like penguins, only they also fly and aren't chubby.
I admit, I'm not usually a big fan of birds, but these are a lot of fun to watch. Enjoy!
Directions: Waterfront area.
