Coming from sea, Kedah Peak (Gunung Jerai) can be seen before the beach or land appeared. No wonder the first Indian sailors across the Bay of Bengal has built the earliest Hindu temples at Bujang Valley at the foothills of Kedah Peak.

There is now an outdoor museum of reconstructed Hindu temples based on archaelogical finds as well as a museum. Located at Merbok.

There is also a road up to the top of Kedah peak with a magnificient view of the rice fields below and the sea out there. You can stay in bungalows up there and there is a nearby waterfall. There is a tough hiking trail but better to drive up or take a jeep available at the foot of the hill.
