Gellert Statue - Szt Gellért Szobor, Budapest: 20 reviews and 32 photos
This 7 meters high statue is also one of the 10 monuments, given by Franz Joseph, as a gift. It was originally only 3 meters tall, but in order to be seen from a bigger distance, it was enlarged. This statue is the only famous work of the scuptor, Gyula Jankovics. The other parts of the monuments are work of Aladár Gárdos (sculpture of the pagan soldier) and Imre Francsek(the columns).
The monument was created in the same year, in 1904, when the adiacent, original Elisabeth-bridge was built, and the very spectacular, artificial cascade was created.
Directions: Go right to the Buda bridgehead of the Elisabeth-bridge. You will see the stairs that bring you up to the Gellért hill. You can see the statue from the bridge.
