Tukka promises something different for diners. A taste of Australian Native Bush Tucker in surroundings decorated with typical Aboriginal Art - music to match. As well as dinner seven nights a week, it's open for Sunday lunch.
All the produce used is Australian. Some of the dishes don't feature on menus elsewhere (possum for example). Prices are on the high side - entrees 20AUD - mains 30 AUD plus 7.50 for sides. Didn't try desserts @ 12AUD. Wine just under 10 AUD per glass.
check the Native Ingredients possible in items on the menu.
Tukka is licensed and does not cater for BYO. The range of wines (all Australian) includes a number from Queensland. Wine is available by the glass. At least 36 Aussie beers are also on the menu (6-8.60 per stubbie).
Vegetarians are catered for. Wheel chair access with difficulty.
There is a range of native products to purchase for home use.
There are several"discovery" menus with/without wines (full or half glasses) ranging from 69 to 125 AUD.
Owner/Head Chef, Bryant Wells runs a stylish restaurant focusing on quality ingredients, beautifully presented meals and a passion for flavour. This is the place to celebrate all things Australian, to indulge in fine wine, good company and great food. Advance Australian Fare!

Favorite Dish: My wife and I dined at night, mid week & took some time to find a parking spot. We were very impressed by the service and the ambience. The art work, the linen and tableware, the fine "tukka" etched glassware all "spot on". With our sparkling wine came a complimentary "amuse-bouche" and at the end of the meal some fudge infused with native oils.
The food was very well presented and very tasty. We started with the entree Tasting Plate for two: native platter - a selection of game meats, native berries, fruits & spices, home-made damper & native dips (min 2 persons) | $22 pp. We were very impressed and rated it top tucker.
For mains we tried Seared Queensland kangaroo, fondant potato, baked rhubarb and a native hibiscus jus $30 & for madam - Crispy skinned Tasmanian salmon served with a smoked celeriac puree, asparagus and a native tamarind butter sauce $32. Having consumed the entree tasting plate we elected not to try any of the Sides with the Main as we had done on previous visit. An example being : Lilly Pilly, Macadamia and Bunya nut salad $6- real bush tucker.
All in all an enjoyable experience. One I'd recommend to well healed overseas visitor or locals taking their o/s guests out for an Aussie meal.
