Oolong Tea House: "Sweet Treats + Tea" Oolong Tea House Tip by Jetgirly

Oolong Tea House, Calgary: 1 reviews and 0 photos

The Oolong Tea House is located in Kensington, just a few blocks (and across a river) from downtown. I decided to check it out today when a few of the local coffeehouses were totally packed. When you walk into the Oolong Tea House you'll see a big wall of teas, all sorted by type (Black, Green, Roiboos, Mate, Herbal, etc.) The staff can help you make a choice, or find one with an appealing name. Pick up the smaller, top container from the shelf (you'll see what I mean when you get there) and bring it to the counter. They'll put the tea in an adorable teapot (small for one person, large for two) and hook you up with some tiny teacups. Grab a seat, let your tea brew, and relax! They're also famous for their yummy desserts, like Chocolate Baileys Cheesecake and (what I tried today) Matcha Tea Cupcakes. Delish! I would suggest choosing one of their not-found-in-supermarkets flavoured teas. Why have plain black tea when you can have Bamboo Shoot Black Tea? Prices are cheaper than Starbucks ($4.75 inclusive for a pot of tea, unlimited hot water and a cupcake). Unofficial website link is below.

Address: 110 - 10 Street NW
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: Just on the north side of the 10th Street Bridge. Take the C-Train to the Sunnyside Station or try Bus #9 (from downtown) or #1 (from the Zoo).
