Hotel Gothia Towers, Göteborg: 245 reviews and 9 photos
Gothia Towers Hotel is by far the most luxury hotel I've ever stayed at in Sweden. Situated right in the middle of the city center it's at a perfect location for any tourist in the city.
But yes, it's expensive.
Not as expensive as one might think though, specially during weekends the price of the hotel rooms goes down to something that is at least alright.
The hotel has 704 rooms, including 11 exclusive suites. (no, these are probably not included in the "not so expensive rooms...). The hotel is built in two towers, the highest one 72 meters high, and I can say that the view from up there is pretty amazing.
I stayed there for a romantic weekend back in 2005 and was pretty pleased with what we got. The room was big and trendy, with a big and nice bathroom (although I don't really know what the window from the bathroom out to the room was good for...?). The windows out are instead huge, which makes the room even nicer. It's almost as if the whole outer wall is a window.
Breakfast was very, and we were also lucky since the breakfast room on the ground floor was closed, so instead we "had to" sit in the luxury restaurant on the 23rd floor (top floor). Let's just say the view over Gothenburg was breathtaking.
There are four different kinds of room, which also makes it four different price classes. All 704 rooms are double rooms.
For a weekend night prices goes as low as 1195 SEK (130 euro more or less) for a standard room. Another 20 euro for a sky room. But those prices are for two persons. If you instead are alone it's 10 euro cheaper.
Max price is 7000 SEK (720 euro) for a suite.
Make sure to also have a look at the different offers there are. There are also a number of different restaurants, Heaven 23 the best. Fantastic view over Gothenburg from the 23rd floor. Make sure you make an early reservation though, otherwise there is no chance to get a table. Possible to sit in the bar though, without reservation.
Unique Qualities: The central location is hard to beat, although there are some hotels in Gothenburg that is even more central.
But the feeling of being able to look out over Gothenburg from high up is impossible to beat at any hotel hotel.
What one would maybe miss at a hotel like this is the personal atmosphere, but then again how should any staff member be able to be personal with guests in 704 rooms...
Instead the check in was warm and welcoming, although quite business.
