Serbi: "Serbian Food" Belgrade Restaurant Tip by antistar

Belgrade Restaurants: 254 reviews and 337 photos

The Serbs in Belgrade love to eat. In contrast to Zagreb with its endless coffee shops and few restaurants, the capital of Serbia has restaurants, cafes, and little hole in the wall eateries every few meters. The food was also great too, even the cheap slices of pizza, at about 0.80e each, were delicious and filling. The beer is cheap too, and good. I bought bottles of Jelen Pivo (Deer Beer) from the hotel bar, at a cost of less than a euro per bottle. From a hotel bar!

Serbian food tends to be very meat based, and very oily. It didn't seem unusual to have an entire meal consisting of fried food. What did surprise me about the food was that every restaurant I went to had some kind of vegetarian option. I'd heard Serbia was a nightmare for vegetarians, and while they did seem to find it odd, they certainly were trying.
