The Muses House Boutique Hotel: "A hidden Gem" Selcuk Hotel Tip by JuneOwen

Selcuk Hotels: 53 reviews and 96 photos

My husband and I have been coming to Turkey for 18 years and have stayed in loads of hotels especially around the Kusadasi area. This year we found a new boutique hotel. This beautiful hidden gem came as a shock to us. Its unlike anything I have experienced in Turkey before. The hotel is quite beautiful, it has six magnificant and luxurious suites filled with works of art and antiques from all over the world. The hotel is run by Stephen and Adrian two British lads together with Gurkan and his wife songule who have a flare for making anyone feel at home. It is a haven of peace as we lay by the beautiful pool swallows would come and fly down to drink from the pool, occassionaly hearing the bray of donkeys. What a refreshing change this hotel is close to all the superb archealogical sites of Ephesus, Selcuk, the shrine of the Virgin Mary and St John's Basilica only 8 Kms away. The bright lights of Kusadasi are just 11 Kms away and all accessible by local dolmush.

Unique Qualities: The hotel is in a traditional mountain Turkish village hardly touched by tourists. The streets are narrow and you find yourself near the village square outside what looks like an ordinary Turkish village house which actually did worry us when we first arrived in the vilage as it is a working village. As we entered the hotel we were astonished by the tranquil beauty hidden behind the walls of the hotel. The first thing that hits you as you enter the hotel is a long entrance way covered in grape vines, bouganvillia and roses, opening out into the most magnificant pool courtyard with ancient Olive trees and beautiful sun terraces surrounding the swimming pool. There is a huge guest lounge leading from the pool courtyard which is filled with lovely furniture and antiques that I have never experienced in a hotel before. As you come out of the lounge you find yourselves in a hidden tranquil garden that the suites surround. The only word to describe this place is magnificant and we can't wait to go back.
