On Assaha Al Khaddra square, at the corner of al Wadi street is one of the best pastries shop I ever found in Arabic countries; it does not look very upscale, looks even a bit pathetic from outside, but once you are inside, scents of almonds, anis, mint tea and fresh pastries in general just take you to heaven (almost). There is not a very big choice, but it is fresh from the oven, they have an incredible turn over, apparently always busy and crowded. You can buy and eat on the spot (I recommend to drink a mint tea with the pastries) and have a drink in the nearby tearoom. Or if you are leaving the country, you can make your friends happy coming home and bringing them the pastries the employees pack for you very carefully (there are honey based pastries which may flow, I had no problem); you can buy par box (3 sizes) and make an assortment. I do not remember the price, but it was cheap compared to what I buy in Algerian pastries France (quality and quantity)

Address: Assaha al Khaddra
