Koper, Slovenia: 19 reviews and 61 photos
Koper is dotted with loads of churches and monasteries. These include:
St Thomas church (No.53 on tourist map): This tiny church was built at the end of the 16th century. It was substantially reconstructed in the early 19th century and then rebuilt in 1923. The interior features a fading fresco of Christ on the Cross.
San Giusto?s Church (No.52 on tourist map): Built in 1693.
St Martha?s church & monastery (No.17 on the tourist map): This church was built in 1621. There was, I think, a christening, going on when I turned up so I couldn't go in. Anyway, I went off to see some more sights nearby and then came back and was able to take a quick look inside (and a couple of pics!). Looks like the church is now a Serbian Orthodox one.
St Clara church & monastery (No.16 on the tourist map): This one was first built in the 14th century with alterations and additions in the 17th century.
