?idovski trg is in the heart of the Jewish district of the city and was first mentioned in 1353 as ?idovska ulica (Jewish street). The Jewish community first settled in the city in the 13th century and as they had their own religion, customs and way of life, they were given this district in a special quarter within the city walls. The synagogue is an impressive Gothic building, first mentioned in 1429, it served as the seat of the supreme rabbinate for the area. Next to the synagogue there once stood the rabbi's house, a Talmud school and a graveyard, and down by the river Drava a ceremonial bathing place. In 1501 the synagogue was turned into a Catholic church called All Saints and after 1785 it was turned into and used as a warehouse. The Jewish Tower was built in 1465 in order to protect the Synagogue. It stands near the Water Tower in the eastern part of Lent near the river. It was once used by the town keeper and today houses a photo club/art studio.
