South of the Piazza Maggiore is a smaller square called Piazza Galvani. Among the buildings you will see here are the rear part of the Basilica and the Palazzo dell'Archiginnasio from the 16th century.

Right in the middle of this square, there is a statue of Luigi Galvani. It was designed by Adalberto Cencetti and finished in 1879.

Directions: Looking from Piazza Maggiore, walk along the left side of the Basilica to the south
