Skofja Loka, Slovenia: 14 reviews and 36 photos

Loka castle overlooks the town from a hill to the west of the town square. It was possibly built in the early 13th century by the bishops of Freising who had been given the area by German emperor Otto II in the 10th century. The castle was almost totally detroyed after the earthquake in 1511 but it was restored by Bishop Filip. The castle today houses one of Slovenia's best ethnographical museum collection detailing the town's history which was famous for its smiths and lace-makers.
