The main parish church of Bled is consecrated to St. Martin and lies on the northern side of the lake. It was built in 1905 by architect Friedrich von Schmidt in the Neo-Gothic style and is painted white and can be seen from all around the lake. There had been another earlier church dating from the 15th century on the same site as the present church and there was even a chapel here that was erected sometime before the year 1000.

The interior of St Martin's Church is adorned with colourful frescoes by painter Slavko Pengov between 1932 and 1937. The majority of the sculptures were made by restoration specialist Ivan Vurnik from Radovljica and were produced from the best Carrera marble.
