Morfa Nefyn - Porth Dinllaen, Gwynedd: 2 reviews and 8 photos
Morfa Nefyn is a real Welsh seaside resort. It has a lovely long, curved sandy beach, Porth Dinllaen, backed by low cliffs and is very popular with both families and the boating/watersport brigade.
A narrow, steep approach road ends at the beach but there is no parking here so you must park further up the hill and walk down. For a fee, you can launch boats here. The first time we came here there was no charge and parking was easy but the next visit, the launching fee had been imposed and we were not pleased (to say the least.) It is a tricky job manouvreing trailers and boats, then parking cars when there are others waiting to do the same. We never returned to Morfa Nefyn after this.
It is a very attractive place for boating as you can potter about in the boat, fishing and later, land at either the small, very popular beach (with a pub) at the village of Porth Dinllaen, just across the bay or the next beach round, lifeboat beach, less popular.
Porth Dinllaen is an old fishing village now turned most definitely into a holiday village. There is a golf course on the cliffs above and all cars have to park out of the village. Many opt to walk along the coastal path from Morfa Nefyn. The views are beautiful and it really is a pretty place out of peak season.
